Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a competitive third set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
